Pictures from the Young Judges' Night held on
Monday 12 July 2010 at Barleyfields Equestrian Centre, Etwall and
very kindly excellent advice andinstruction was given by Mrs. Joanne
Griffin. The "Steward from Hell" wasthere offering all kinds
of advice, naturally to assist the judge - the part was ably played
by Mrs. Pat Pattinson!! The photo of our two judges – one very
smartly dressed and one with everything you don't want to see
including the catalogue of "whose who" on the day of the show.
We would very much like to thank Tammy Bell-Heather and her friend
Kate for being such good sports.
There were many deliberate mistakes all through
the evening in judges' attire, riders' attire and turn-out of ponies
not forgetting lots of outside assistance and many outspoken
comments from the steward! - the majority of which the candidates
were able to find - well done to all of you!
After several rigorous training sessions at various yards, the team has now been selected plus a reserve - congratulations to all four of you, namely Alex Lawton, Catherine Hudson, Lydia Walder and reserve Sophie Webster.

Area 4A is particularly keen to improve performance at the Annual Young Judges Competition held at the summer BSPS Championships held during August each year.
The Area would be pleased to arrange training sessions where it is necessary. it is essential for candidates for the competition to be keen to work hard and practice during the winter/spring/early summer if they intend to be successful at the Championships. Entering the competition is expensive for the Area and so preparation is vital!
We have recently enjoyed two strong individual performances from Clare Minchin, who was fourth in 2006 and third in 2007 in the individual competition. Emma Shalley was just out of the places in 2008.
Contact Gay Sowerby for more details. The Area is unlikely to send a team of young judges who have not fully trained or prepared for the competition.
